Situated across two legendary locations along the beautiful Cornish coastline Boardmasters will once again return to deliver to you, our faithful followers, the ultimate in the lifestyle we all love.
The Fistral Beach site, where surfing in the UK began, plays host to the best in action sports including surf, skate and BMX competitions which kick off on Wednesday 10th August from 8am. As well as the comps we have a Surf Village, Beach sessions and bar all for you to enjoy throughout the weekend.
From Friday, the party expands to the festival site at Watergate Bay with top music acts across eight stages. Known throughout the land as Cornwall’s festival; Boardmasters delivers a laid back festival atmosphere designed to bring out the inner surfer in everyone.
Boardmasters 2017 endevours to bring the best of music and surfing together in one unique festival experience. Being part of the World Surf League (WSL) qualifying series (QS) guarantees an array of travelling international surfers as well as the best British surfers, all looking to qualify for the World Championship Tour (and enjoy the party afterwards). All of the WSL surf contests are held Fistral Beach and best of all, they’re free for all spectators.
Those familiar with the Boardmasters will remember last year’s incredible ramp setup. We are excited to announce that the CANNA RAMP (located at Fistral Beach) will be returning this year and hosting the best Skate and BMX ramp contest of the year. This is always a highlight for the UK skate and BMX scene, but it is not just about the pro’s.
This year the CANNA Ramp will include public BMX and Skate Sessions which are taking place on the Wednesday and Thursday. Please remember to bring your helmet or you won’t get on the ramp. We are also holding the Boardmasters Young Gun invitational (under 16’s) to showcase the best of the next generation. Young Guns will be held on Friday with Pro contests being held on Saturday and Sunday (finals).
There’s no need to purchase a ticket to watch any of the BMX or skate events, so head down to Fistral Beach in your own time and take in the CANNA Ramp action.
he big one. The stage that makes musicians into icons and icons into legends. If only floorboards could talk… this is where James Bay serenaded the weekend to a close, Snoop Dogg rocked the stage with his custom surf board, where Chase & Status wowed the crowd, where The Kaiser Chiefs had their best set of the Summer, and where Ben Howard came home to show his Only Love to the South West.
Don’t wait for the headline sets though, with huge acts all through the day the mainstage has a habit of throwing huge artists at earlier times. Reef opened the stage in 2015, Clean Bandit smashed through their future hits at 3pm in 2013 & Sunset Sons surprised the crowd in 2016 – no matter what time of day you’re sure to have a ball.
