Black Sheep Festival 2019: One Festival / One Beach / More than 20 Artists / Summer 2019

Black Sheep Festival is Croatia’s favourite EDM and house music beachfront festival and one of the hottest summer events in Zrce. Representing those who are driven by a thirst for knowledge, achievement and passion, the four-day event hosts some of the biggest and best names in the scene each year. The sounds of some of the most popular names in the scene bring the town of Novalja to life each summer.

Black Sheep Festival regularly hosts some of the biggest EDM and house DJ’s in the world. Previous editions have been headlined by popular DJ’s Nervo, KSHMR, Deorro and even Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello. Over 20 of the world’s hottest DJ’s gather on Croatia’s famous Zrce Beach each year; making up one of the hottest summer celebrations.

How to get to Novalja

The city of Novalja is easily accessed by both car and bus. The nearest major airport is Split Airport, but Zadar airport also offers many flight options throughout the summer season. Regular buses are available from both Split and Zadar as well as other major cities around Croatia and can transport you to Novalja on the low.

Novalja itself is quite small and everything is within walking distance. Public buses operate throughout the city, transporting visitors to Zrce Beach and other nearby locations. Single or multiple day shuttle passes are available to purchase during the festival season, allowing visitors unlimited access to the public bus between the city centre and Zrce Beach.

If you prefer something with a little more freedom, many vendors around Novalja, particularly on the water, offer small vehicle rentals. The popular choice is scooter, but ATV’s and buggies are also available to rent per 24 hour period.

Where to stay for Black Sheep Festival 2019

The city of Novalja is home to thousands of visitors each summer. With festivals and events happening on the daily throughout the entire summer, there are many affordable accomodation options in the city centre. The most popular option is airbnb or apartment rentals. Many locals open up their homes each year for visitors to rent and share a true local experience. There are also a number of hostels located throughout the city if you are travelling solo or on a budget.

You can also purchase travel packages directly through the festival in addition to your ticket. A number of three and four person apartments located within the vicinity of the event are available to add on.

Things to do in Novalja

Home to the world famous Zrce Beach, Novalja offers plenty to see and do for it’s annual influx of new visitors. The beach offers crystal clear waters surrounded by a surreal mountainous landscape. Popular water activities such as jet skiing and parasailing are available. Calmer activities such as tubing and pedal boats are also on offer. While Zrce Beach offers a stunning 2km stretch of Croatia’s clearest waters, a number of other beaches are also on offer around Novalja. You can beat the crowd by checking out some of the smaller but equally as stunning beaches and public baths.

Endless food and drink options are available in Novalja as well as on Zrce Beach. Cocktail bars are available at every turn and the town is home to some of the best authentic restaurants. Fresh seafood, meat platters, desserts and other local delicacies are prepared daily by the locals; providing an authentic Croatian dining experience. A number of day trips are also offered from local tourism centres, offering excursions to various nearby attractions.
