Bastille Day 2024: the True Glory and Joy of Independence

The French Republic celebrates its national day on 14th July, also known as Bastille Day. It has been celebrated since 1880, but in France they call it the Fête nationale. A glimpse of history tells us that in the late 1700s, the French were the victims of the harsh rule of the Bourbon monarchy. The beginning of French Revolution started when the troops stormed the Bastilles, on July 14, 1789.

Out-of-towners and foreigners plan their Parisian getaways around this event so that they will not miss out on the jubilations.

“So beautiful and enthralling are the Bastille Day celebrations in Paris that thousands travel to the city of love to view it for themselves.”

Your experience at Bastille Day

The Bastille Day proceedings begin with the traditional military parade on the Champs Elysées Avenue – the largest and oldest consistent military parade across Europe.

The military troops parade down the most beautiful avenue in the city, in the attendance of an enormous crowd as well as the President of France himself.

Then, the event proceeds to the aerial show performed by the French Army and Air Force where they demonstrate their spectacular skills in the sky in fighter planes and helicopters. Both kids and adults alike are enchanted by this extraordinary aerial demonstration.

The French military school cadets and the French Navy also participate in the parade, which comes to an end with a parade by the Paris Fire Brigade.

The event also includes musical performances from well-known artists along with mesmerizing dance performances. Later, close to midnight, a great concert takes place and for half an hour, the sky lights up with the most impressive fireworks display.
