The Australian Open of Surfing is a QS World Surf Comp with big points up for grabs. Mix the world’s best surfers, skateboarders, music and lifestyle, all for free and all on Manly Beach, and you get the Australian Open of Surfing 2017!
The World Surf League’s (WSL) best will hit Manly Beach to launch the country’s largest surf, skate, music and lifestyle festival, the Australian Open of Surfing.
The event will celebrate skateboarding, music, and lifestyle and will incorporate WSL-sanctioned QS 6000 Men’s and Women’s Pro events as well as the Sydney Grom Challenge event for Juniors.
For the second year running the AOS will hold the Vans BMX Pro Cup and Vans Pro Skate Park Series.
The Vans Park Series World Tour kicks off at the AOS in February, with the first VPS World Tour men’s Global Qualifier. The AOS 2017 will also provide a platform for emerging skate talent, as VPS expands its footprint in 2017 to introduce a new Continental Championship qualification tier.
AOS will host the VPS Oceania Continental Championships for men and women, providing the official pathway for eligibility into the Vans Park Series Global Qualifier and Vans Park Series World Championships. Both competitions are open to all entrants meeting proof of regional eligibility.
The Australian Open of Surfing combines the world’s best surfers, artists and fans in a celebration of beach culture and lifestyle in surf city Manly Beach – the birthplace of modern surfing in Australia.
