AFROPUNK Joburg is coming back again for a third year at the end of December, to send off 2019 with a bang.

Get ready and gear up to ride into the musical journey that Afropunk. The music festival is going to outdo itself this year with an amazing lineup of emerging talent and well-known artists.  Some of the blockbuster performances last year included Public Enemy, Thundercat, The Internet, Thandiswa, Youngsta CPT, Kaytranada, Flying Lotus, Big Freedia, Saint Jude, Faka, Azagaia, Moonchild, BCUC, and Nomisupasta.

Afropunk first launched in 2005 and usually takes place every year in Paris, London, Atlanta, Brooklyn, and Johannesburg. However, the African debut of this festival held back in 2017. The festival last witnessed around 20,000 people from all around South Africa

The focus of this event is to influence the young generation from all backgrounds to step ahead in the field of art, film, music, sports, and fashion. To buy a festival ticket, you first need to make up your mind that how many days you want to attend. Although the full week VIP passes are a bit costly, they are well worth it.

How to get around Johannesburg

Things to do in Johannesburg

Visit the famous Apartheid Museum of Johannesburg. The place is a top tourist attraction as it displays the history of South Africa. The museum was established back in 2001 and it is a non-profit gallery.

The Lion Park should be a must visit place in your bucket list. The place is located in the Gauteng province and spread over 500 acres of land. Around 80 lions live in the park. You will find some white lions (which are rare to see nowadays) and also spotted hyenas, cheetahs, antelopes and a wide range of black-backed jackal. Visit the Nelson Mandela Square, formerly known as Sandton Square. In 2004, they renamed the place to give tribute to the Former South African president.
